This darling picture book was a hit with my grandkids. They appreciated the whimsical story about a boy and his friend Tingle, the magical snowflake. Little did they know I read it as an inroad to talk about the loss of their great-grandmother. We were able to talk about her passing in an emotionally rich way without trauma. Thank you Ms. White for this wonderful book.

A wonderful resource for children experiencing loss. We recently lost an amazing grade 1 teacher at our school, tragically and unexpectedly. I read this book to her students and it provided so much comfort to six year olds who had never experienced death, in a very relatable way. It also opened up discussion and allowed her students to grieve in a safe space. I would highly recommend this book for all children between the ages of 5-10.

This touching book is about loss and how relationships don't last forever. While it talks about a snowflake that turns into a cloud, it can be a very useful book for discussing with your child how, when someone passes on, they are not gone forever, but still stay in your heart. You will need to have this conversation, not just read the book and assume the child will make the connection.
